Resolution of the Connecticut General Assembly on the Petition of Sarah and Aaron Poquiantup
Upon the petition of Sarah Poquiantup and Aaron Poquiantup, late of Lyme in New London County, but now of Brothertown in the Oneida County in the State of New York, shewing to this Assembly that they are of the Niantic Tribe of Indians and are owners of a certain piece of land lying in the Town of Lyme, which piece of land they had by descent from their father1 Isaac Poquiantup and he, the said Isaac, purchased of one Silas Champlin, deed of sale dated January 2 AD 1787, and that they have settled and purchased land in Brothertown, and built a sawmill, and want the avails of said land to purchase other land and complete said mill, praying this Assembly to empower them to sell and give authentic conveyance to the purchaser of said land as per petition on file dated September 30th 1808.
Resolved by this Assembly that Andrew Griswold be, and he is hereby empowered and authorized to sell said piece of land, and to give good and authentic deeds of conveyance to the purchasers of the same, which shall be valid in law, and to pay over to said Sarah and Aaron the avails of said land.

In the Upper House, concurred with alteration and addition by inserting the words the petitioners with and under the advice of between the words that and Andrew in the first line of the resolvery part of the bill, and by erasing the words he is in the second line, and inserting instead thereof the words they are, and also by erasing the words he is in the second line and inserting instead thereof the words they are, and also by erasing the two last lines of the bill. Test, Samuel Wyllys, Secretary. In the House of Representatives, Misters Eliphalet Holmes and William Noyes are appointed a committee to confer with such gentlemen as the Honorable Upper House may appoint on the differing votes of the two Houses on this bill.
