Barnes, Amos, 1730 - 1818

Captain Amos Barnes was the son of Ebenezer Barnes of Southington, Connecticut. In 1767, the Connecticut General Assembly appointed him to be Lieutenant of the sixth company or trainband in the town of Farmington. He also served as 1st Lieutenant in Captain Ichabod North's 3rd Company in Colonel Samuel Mott's Battalion in 1776, being promoted to Captain at a later date.  12 PRCC 610.  Johnston, Record of Connecticut Men in the Military and Naval Service, 389
