Cochepence was the father of Hatchet Towsey, a Tunxis man who later removed to Woodbury, Connecticut.  Cochepence may be the same as Chippance, one of the grantors of Paugussett land in Milford in October 1682 or as the Tunxis man, Chepan, who agreed to new leaders Wawowos and Shum six years later.  How he is related to Ann Cochepence, a Wangunk woman who, with others, petitioned the Connecticut General Assembly in 1765, is currently unknown.
