Prout, John, Jr., 1689 - 1776

John Prout, Jr. (Yale 1708) was the son of Capt. John Prout and Mary Rutherford Hall of New Haven, Connecticut.  A businessman of New Haven and naval officer at the town’s port, Prout was also treasurer of Yale College (1717-1765), clerk of probate for the District of New Haven (1727-1742), and made Justice of the Peace for New Haven in 1735.  His father was a witness to the Quinnipiac indenture of April 20, 1683.
