Wattles, Thomas P., M.D., 1801 - 1855
Thomas P. Wattles was the son of Elijah Wattles and Rebecca Peabody of Stonington, Connecticut and a practicing physician of that town. In 1834, he served as a selectman as well. On February 10th of that year, he and the other selectmen of the town recommended that the New London County Court replace the outgoing overseer to the Eastern Pequot, Silas Chesebrough, with Ezra Hewitt. From 1832 to 1844, Wattles provided medical services to the Eastern Pequot. The United States Government appointed him postmaster to North Stonington in 1845.
