Root, Timothy II, 1712 - 1746

Timothy Root II, the son of Timothy Root and Margaret Seymour, was a hat maker from Farmington, Connecticut.  In the winter of 1739, he married Mary Hart, daughter of Deacon John Hart.   The couple had three children: Timothy, Theodore, and Esther.  They lived in the Root homestead on Farmington's Main St., from which Root and his wife operated an inn.  Root served as a lieutenant in the New England Expedition during the French & Indian War.  In April 1746, he died at Cape Breton after the surrender of Louisbourg.  In his will, Root gave the homestead to his son Timothy.
