Deed from David Towsey to Capt. Issac Bidwell
To All People to Whom these Presents Shall Come: Greeting
Know you that I, David Towsey, of Farmington, in the County of Hartford and Colony of Connecticut in New England, one of the descendants of the original Tunxis Tribe of Indians for the consideration of four pounds, ten shillings, lawful money, received of my full satisfaction of Captain Isaac Bidwell of said Farmington, do, by the advice and direction of Colonel John Strong, Fisher Gay, Esq., and Elnathan Gridley, they being a committee appointed by the Honorable General Assembly of said Colony, at their session at Hartford in May last, to advise and direct in the sale of the Indian lands in said Farmington, made. remised, released, and forever quit claimed, and by these presents do for myself and heirs, fully, freely, and absolutely remise, release, and forever quit claim unto the said Isaac Bidwell, and now in his possession, and seized, and to his heirs and assigns forever, all the right, title, interest, claim, and demand I now have ever and or in time to come might have unto that large tract of land formerly granted to the said original Tunxis Tribe of Indians on the west side at Pequabuck Meadow, and to all other lands since obtained by said Tribe by purchase, wherever the same may lay, or to any other lands that I may have a right to in said Farmington.
To have and to hold the above remised and released premises with the appurtenances thereof unto him, the said Isaac Bidwell, and to his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their only use and behoof, and, furthermore, I, the said David Towsey, do, by these presents, bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above remised and released premises to him, the said Isaac Bidwell, his heirs, and assigns against any person or persons claiming from by or under me.
