Deed from David Bristoll to Israel Freeman (1781)
To All People to Whom These Presents Shall Come: Greeting
Know you that I, David Bristol, of Farmington in the County of Hartford and State of Connecticut, for the consideration of seventy bushels of wheat, received to my full satisfaction of Israel Freeman of Farmington aforesaid do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Israel Freeman and to his heirs and assigns forever one piece or parcel of land situate in said Farmington and is a small part of the 3rd Lot in the 1st Division of land west of the reserved land and on the north side of said lot at the west end of said lot, being the same land I purchased of said Freeman, and also the land I now own in the highway at the west end of said lot, and the whole contains five acres and three roods, be the same, more or less, butted west and north on highway, south on land of said Freeman, east, part on land of John Thomas, and a small part of land of Jedediah Norton, Jr.
To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof unto him, the said Israel Freeman, and to his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And, also, I, the said David Bristol, do for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators covenant with the said Israel Freeman and with his heirs and assigns that, at and until the ensealing of these presents, I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form, as is above written, and that the same is free of all encumbrances whatsoever. And, furthermore, I, the said David Bristol, do, by these presents, bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him, the said Israel Freeman, and to his heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever.
