Deed from Abner Curtis, Administrator of the Estate of Solomon Adams, to Nehemiah Street and Fenn Wadsworth

To All People to Whom These Presents Shall Come: Greeting


Know you that I, Abner Curtiss, of Farmington in the County of Hartford, administrator on the estate of Solomon Adams, late of Farmington, deceased, and by order of the Court of Probate in the District of Farmington and for the consideration of nine pounds, eight shillings lawful money received to my full satisfaction of Nehemiah Street of said Farmington and Fenn Wadsworth, now of the City and State of New York, do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Street and Wadsworth and to their heirs and assigns forever one piece or parcel of land scituate in said Farmington in the following proportion, namely, to said Street the proportion of £6.6.7 to the sum of £9.9, and the said Wadsworth in the proportion of £3.1.5 to the sum of £ 9.8.0, and said land is a part of the Eleventh Lot in the first Division of Land west of the reserved [land] at the west end of said lot, and contains fifteen acres and is butted and bounded east on a cross highway, west on the original highway between the First and Second Division, north on land of Daniel Rowe, and south on land of Jedediah Seward, and is a part of the land belonging to the estate of Solomon Adams, deceased.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof, unto them, the said Street and Wadsworth, and to their heirs and assigns forever, to them and their own proper use and behoof.  And also, I, the said Curtiss, do for myself and my heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant with the said Street and Wadsworth and with their heirs and assigns, that at and until the ensealing of these presents, I am well seized of the premises, as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form, as is above written, and that the same is free of all encumbrances whatsoever.  And, furthermore, I, the said administrator, do by these presents, bind myself, and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to them, the said Street and Wadsworth, and their heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

Personally appeared Lieutenant Abner Curtiss, signer and sealer of the foregoing instrument, and acknowledged the same to be his free act and deed, before me, Solomon Adams, Justice of the Peace, Hartford County, for the jurisdiction of Farmington, May 3, 1784
